Experience Healing Through Connection
Sometimes, the most powerful healing happens when you realize you’re not alone. Group therapy at Live Mindfully Psychotherapy offers a safe, welcoming space for women across Texas to connect with others who truly understand what it’s like to carry anxiety, trauma, or self-criticism. In this virtual group, you’ll be supported as you share your story, learn practical tools for coping, and feel less alone in your struggles. Together, healing becomes a little more possible—and a little less overwhelming.
What is Virtual Group Therapy?
Group therapy offers a powerful and unique healing experience. In a supportive, small group setting, you'll meet regularly with a specialized therapist to explore shared struggles, exchange perspectives, and grow together. The virtual format allows you to join from anywhere in Texas—removing geographical barriers while preserving the connection and intimacy that make group therapy so effective.
In each session, you’ll experience:
Supportive Community: Connect with women who truly understand the weight of anxiety, perfectionism, self-doubt, or trauma
Skilled Facilitation: Work with a therapist who brings expertise in women’s mental health and trauma-informed care
Practical Tools: Learn evidence-based strategies for managing emotions, setting boundaries, and building self-compassion
New Perspectives: Hear others’ stories and gain insights that individual therapy alone may not reveal
Deepened Self-Awareness: Explore your patterns and strengths through meaningful, authentic interactions
Sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform, offering a private and seamless virtual experience that feels just as impactful as in-person support.
The Unique Benefits of Group Therapy
Group therapy offers unique benefits that not only complement individual therapy but can sometimes accelerate growth in powerful ways. In fact, research consistently shows that for many mental health concerns, group therapy can be just as effective—and in some cases, even more impactful—than one-on-one sessions.
Why Group Therapy Works:
Reduced Isolation: Hearing others share similar struggles can be a profound relief—it’s a reminder that you’re not alone and never were.
Real-Time Feedback: Honest reflections from group members offer fresh insight into your patterns, relationships, and blind spots.
Built-In Accountability: The group structure fosters consistency, motivation, and follow-through on the goals you set for yourself.
Greater Accessibility: Group therapy offers high-quality, specialized support at a lower cost than individual sessions.
Shared Wisdom: Watching others work through challenges can spark your own breakthroughs and expand your perspective.
Safe Space for Growth: Group sessions provide a supportive environment to practice new coping tools and communication skills—so you feel more confident using them in everyday life.
Whether you’re navigating anxiety, self-criticism, perfectionism, or trauma, group therapy creates the kind of connection and support that makes healing feel more possible—and more human.

8 Keys To Recovery From An Eating Disorder Group
This 8-week virtual therapy group guides women through the renowned "8 Keys to Recovery From an Eating Disorder" framework. Each session creates space to:
- Explore your relationship with food, your body, and yourself
- Develop practical strategies for navigating recovery challenge
- Connect with others who understand eating disorder complexities
- Create personalized treatment plans for long-term recovery
- Break free from isolation that often accompanies eating disorders
The group setting provides unique and powerful benefits for eating disorder recovery. Witnessing others take brave steps forward offers real-life proof that recovery is possible, even on the hardest days. Sharing your successes and challenges with other women in recovery fosters a sense of connection that reduces shame and builds hope. Through honest conversations, mutual support, and the guidance of a skilled facilitator, this group becomes a space where your understanding of your eating disorder will grow as lasting change begins to take root.
Self-Compassion Group
Our 9-week women’s Self-Compassion group is designed for women who struggle with perfectionism, harsh self-criticism, and feeling perpetually "not enough."
Based on Dr. Kristin Neff's groundbreaking work, this support group helps women:
- Explore the origins of self-criticism and begin transforming harsh inner dialogue
- Learn practical tools to respond to yourself with kindness in moments of pain or stress
- Connect with the understanding that struggle is part of being human—reducing shame and isolation
- Strengthen self-confidence by building a consistent, supportive relationship with yourself
- Practice setting healthy, respectful boundaries in relationships without guilt or fear
Many participants find that this group transforms not only how they relate to themselves, but also how they show up in every area of life. As self-compassion grows, it becomes easier to navigate life transitions with steadiness, approach relationships with healthier boundaries and deeper connection, and face professional challenges with more confidence and resilience. Instead of being driven by self-doubt or perfectionism, participants begin to respond to life with greater clarity, emotional balance, and a sense of inner trust.

What to Expect in Group Therapy
The Group Process
Each therapy group at Live Mindfully Psychotherapy follows a thoughtfully designed process that blends structure with flexibility—ensuring the experience is both grounded and responsive to the needs of the group.
Initial Connection:
The first few sessions are dedicated to building trust, establishing group norms, and creating a safe, respectful space where every member feels seen, heard, and supported. This foundation allows meaningful connection and deeper work to unfold over time.
Skill Development:
Through guided discussions, experiential exercises, and therapist-led teaching, you’ll begin learning practical tools related to the group’s focus—whether that’s self-compassion, emotion regulation, or recovery from disordered eating. Skills are introduced in digestible, real-life ways to promote understanding and confidence.
Implementation Support:
As you begin applying new strategies outside of group, the weekly sessions become a place for encouragement, feedback, and collaborative problem-solving. You’ll gain insight not only from your own progress but also from witnessing how others navigate similar challenges.
Integration:
In the final phase of the group, attention shifts to helping you weave these insights and tools into your daily life. You'll reflect on your growth, explore what ongoing support might look like, and leave with a stronger foundation for continued personal development.
Throughout the group journey, sessions are skillfully facilitated to ensure a balanced and inclusive experience. Participation is always encouraged but never forced—your boundaries will be respected every step of the way.
A Typical Group Session
While every group session has its own energy and focus, most 75-minute meetings follow a familiar structure to help you feel grounded and supported throughout the process:
Opening Check-In: A brief round where each participant shares how they’re doing and any reflections or challenges since the last session
Topic Exploration: A guided discussion or experiential activity centered around the session’s theme
Skill Practice: An opportunity to try out new strategies or coping tools within the safety of the group setting
Reflection: Time to process insights, emotions, and takeaways from the session
Closing and Intentions: A thoughtful wrap-up with space to set intentions or goals for the week ahead
This balance of structure and flexibility allows the group to stay focused while also responding to what members need most in the moment—making each session both purposeful and personally meaningful.
Integrating Group and Individual Therapy
Many women find that combining group therapy with individual therapy creates the most comprehensive support for their mental health. These two approaches complement each other in powerful ways:
Individual therapy provides focused attention on your unique history, patterns, and goals
Group therapy offers community, diverse perspectives, and real-time interpersonal practice
If you're currently working with an individual therapist, our group therapists can collaborate with them (with your permission) to create a seamless treatment experience. If you're not currently in individual therapy but are interested in exploring this combination, we can discuss options during your consultation.
Mental Health Concerns We Address
Our group therapy programs are specifically designed to address some of the challenges our clients most frequently face. Regardless of the group’s theme, all our groups are supportive spaces for women who experience:
Anxiety
Our groups often provide effective tools for managing worry, panic, and stress. Group members benefit from witnessing various approaches to anxiety management and practicing techniques in a supportive environment.
OCD
For women struggling with obsessive-compulsive disorder, our group leaders can easily adapt exercises and strategies to fit into your existing OCD treatment plan.
Trauma
All of our groups are trauma informed and offer a safe space for women to process difficult experiences while connecting with others on similar healing journeys. The group setting provides unique validation and support that individual therapy alone cannot offer.
Eating Disorders
Women dealing with eating disorders benefit immensely from the combination of specialized therapeutic techniques and the supportive community found in our eating disorder recovery groups. Breaking free from isolation is a crucial component of long-term recovery.
